Life Insurance

Term, final expense, permanent life, and IUL discovery.

Primary flow

Open → Discover → Bridge → Close

1 · Opening

Hi [First Name], this is [Agent Name] with [Agency]. You recently requested information about life insurance. I’m the licensed agent following up to help you compare the coverage options that fit your goals and budget. Did I catch you with two minutes?

2 · Discovery questions

  1. 1What made you start looking at life insurance now?
  2. 2Who would be financially affected if something happened to you?
  3. 3Are you mainly protecting income, final expenses, a mortgage, children, or building longer-term cash-value protection?
  4. 4Do you already have coverage through work or personally? About how much?
  5. 5What monthly range would feel comfortable if we find an option that makes sense?
  6. 6Before I recommend anything, I’ll also need basic health, tobacco, medication, and beneficiary information so we can match you to appropriate underwriting.

3 · Bridge

Based on what you told me, the next step is to compare the coverage type, benefit amount, underwriting fit, and premium together—not just chase the cheapest number. I’ll show you the options and explain the trade-offs.

4 · Close / next step

I have enough to narrow this down. Let’s review the best-fit option together and, if you’re comfortable with it, complete the application while everything is in front of us. Would you rather review it now or at [Time Option 1] / [Time Option 2]?

5 · Voicemail

Hi [First Name], this is [Agent Name], the licensed agent following up on your life-insurance request. I’m calling to help you compare the options you asked about. Call or text me at [Phone]. Again, this is [Agent Name] at [Phone].

CRM disposition

End the call with a real CRM outcome so the next action is not left in someone's memory.

Objection handling

Listen first. Answer the real concern.

“I’m just looking / not ready.”

That’s completely fine. My job right now is to help you understand the numbers before you make a decision. Let’s first establish what protection you would actually need, then you can decide whether now is the right time.

“It’s too expensive.”

Then we should adjust the design, not force the budget. Let’s separate the must-have protection from the nice-to-have features and see what amount is sustainable.

“I have coverage at work.”

That’s useful coverage. The question is whether it is enough and whether it follows you if your employment changes. We can compare your workplace benefit with the protection your household actually needs.

Compliance guardrails

•Do not describe policy values, returns, tax treatment, or guarantees beyond the carrier illustration and approved materials.

•If discussing IUL, explain that indexed crediting is subject to caps/spreads/participation rates and policy charges; it is not a direct investment in an index.

•Do not imply approval before underwriting.

Current carrier, state/provincial, federal, CMS, Marketplace, telemarketing, privacy, and product-specific requirements control if they differ from this coaching script.
